Proven Positive Psychology Approach

What is Positive Psychology? Positive Psychology is the study of what makes life fulfilling. It focuses on strengths and virtues, helping teens build a meaningful, happy life. Instead of dwelling on what’s wrong, we emphasize what’s right and how to enhance it.

Choosing True North means giving your teen the tools and support they need to thrive. Join us and watch your teen discover their strengths, set meaningful goals, and develop a positive mindset that will benefit them for life.

Benefits of Setting Goals

Developing a Positive Mindset

  • Resilience: A positive mindset helps teens bounce back from setbacks, seeing challenges as growth opportunities.

Our Coaching Process: Next Steps

At True North, our coaching process is all about empowering your teenager to find their passions, set meaningful goals, and unlock their full potential.

Step 1: Introductory Meeting

We start with a thorough meeting to get to know your teen’s aspirations, interests, and values. Through open conversations and tools like the VIA character survey, we discover what truly drives them.

Step 2: Weekly Coaching Sessions

Weekly sessions ensure consistent support and guidance. Regular engagement keeps your teen on track, with tasks assigned between sessions to maintain momentum and drive continuous progress.

Step 3: Empowering Collaboration

Our coaching is a collaborative effort aimed at helping your teen overcome obstacles and tap into their potential. While we provide strong support, coaching is not therapy.

Step 4: Achieving Goals and Thriving

With the right mindset and support, your teen can achieve anything. Watch as they thrive, discovering their passions and reaching their goals.

Book your introduction meeting

Step One: Let’s connect! The first step is to schedule a 20-minute introductory call where you can share with me some details about why you are seeking a life coach for your child, and we can assess if I’m suitable to work with your teen. These calls are free of charge and are conducted over the phone or via Zoom – your choice. Book a consultation with me.

Step Two: Schedule your child’s session(s). Once we’ve had our intro call and determined you would like me to start working with your teen, I will send a follow up email that will include a link to my scheduling calendar where you can book the first session.

CANCELLATION & NO-SHOW POLICY:

I ask that my clients honor my time and theirs by only booking appointments they prioritize attending. If needed, you are welcome to cancel or reschedule your session up to 24 hours before your appointment; however I request that you make any changes as far in advance as possible as last-minute changes are difficult to fill. No-shows and cancellations made within the 24-hour window will be expected to pay half of the fee owed. I understand that last-minute, unforeseen emergencies and illnesses come up, and I can waive the fee for these rare occurrences. However, missed appointments due to a client’s scheduling error will be charged the cancellation fee. Please notify me with as much advance warning of your cancellation as possible so that I can make that time available for another client. Thank you!

Common Questions

Whether someone is gifted, in need of support, or has special needs, we have a proven track record of helping them navigate life’s journey with confidence and clarity.

Jennifer Friend is a certified Positive Psychology coach. She is certified through the Wholebeing Institute, an educational organization co-founded by Megan McDonough and Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar – an internationally renowned teacher and author in the fields of happiness and leadership. Tal earned his BA in Philosophy and Psychology and PhD in Organizational Behavior from Harvard and taught two of the most popular courses in Harvard’s history: Positive Psychology and The Psychology of Leadership. Together, Tal and Megan founded Wholebeing Institute and created a coaching certification program comprised of research-based courses that teach people how to live life to its fullest—spiritually, physically, intellectually, relationally, and emotionally. Through this program, coaches learn how to guide their clients toward contentment and to enjoy a deep and lasting sense of wellbeing – which is necessary to live a flourishing life.

You can either pay-as-you-go or buy packages of sessions for a discounted price. The price starts at $165 per session, but you can get it for $125 per session.

We are not therapist and therefor do not provide therapy. This does not mean we can help you finding passions and reaching goals.

Positive Psychology emphasizes identifying and leveraging individual strengths rather than addressing weaknesses. We focus on building and broadening what’s already working.

Positive Psychology offers the support and structure teens need to navigate these changes confidently, helping them to build a solid foundation for a successful and fulfilling future. We believe each students learns: Enhanced Self-Awareness, Goal Setting and Achievement, Resilience and Perseverance, Positive Relationships, Optimism and Positive Outlook, Life Skills Development and Empowerment and Independence.
